Oh 2016. You were a really tough year for a whole lot of people.
Personally, I can’t say it was all bad. We spent my 30th on the most amazing trip to Iceland and I feel like I’ve really made great progress on discovering who I am as a person and what direction I want to take my life.
A few years ago, I was really tired of the usual ‘New Years Resolution’ and I stumbled upon an idea that I really love. Instead of one, concrete resolution… you pick a word to live your life by. This year, I’ve decided to make my word Action.
To me, this word embodies everything I hope to accomplish this upcoming year. I sat down and painted my word last night so I could have a constant reminder and I added some phrases that describe what the word means to me.
If you can’t see from the photos, here are a few of my favorites:
- Question everything
- Say yes more
- Learn new skills
- Be the change I wish to see
- Create art
- Seek conversation
- Kill them with kindness
- Seek new experiences
- Offer help
- Be open
- Speak my mind
- Set plans/Be reliable
With everything happening in the world right now, I really just want to get involved in my community and be open to new opportunities. I’m losing my morning job in a month and it feels like a great time to seek out a new transition.
So here’s to a new year and an optimistic outlook! Happy New Years everyone!!
